Terms of Use and Privacy Policy for LeadScan (Business Card Scanner)

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the LeadScan (Business Card Scanner) mobile application (“App”), provided by Interface Technologies Inc. (“Company”, or “we”). By downloading, installing, or using this App, you (“User”, or “you”) agree to these Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Use of the App

The App allows users to scan business cards and save contact information on their mobile device. You may use the App only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.

You agree not to use the App:

  • For illegal, fraudulent, or unauthorized purposes
  • To scan or store information without lawful permission where required
  • To misuse contact information obtained through the App
  • To interfere with the operation of the App
  • To reverse engineer, copy, modify, or exploit the App unlawfully

User Responsibility

You are solely responsible for:

  • How you use the App
  • Accuracy of scanned information
  • Reviewing contact information before saving
  • Compliance with applicable privacy and data protection laws
  • Obtaining consent where required before storing or using personal information

Use of the App is at your own risk.

No Guarantee of Accuracy

The App uses scanning and text recognition technology that may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or incorrect results.

We do not guarantee:

  • Accuracy of scanned information
  • Error-free scanning
  • Correct field recognition
  • Continuous availability of all device features

Users should review all scanned information before saving or using it.

Contacts and Device Permissions

The App may request access to:

  • Camera
  • Contacts
  • Local device storage

These permissions are used solely to enable App functionality. You may deny permissions, but some features may not work properly.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the App:

  • To collect personal data unlawfully
  • For spam, harassment, or unauthorized marketing
  • To impersonate another person
  • To store malicious, fraudulent, or deceptive contact data
  • In violation of any law or regulation

Improper use may result in termination of access where applicable.

Free App / No License Fee

The App may be provided free of charge.

No ownership rights are transferred to you.

The Company grants you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable right to use the App for personal or business use in accordance with these Terms.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE COMPANY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING:

  • MERCHANTABILITY
  • FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
  • ACCURACY
  • RELIABILITY
  • NON-INFRINGEMENT
  • ERROR-FREE OPERATION

We do not guarantee that the App will meet your requirements.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, Interface Technologies Inc. SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Data loss
  • Incorrect contact information
  • Device issues
  • Business losses
  • Indirect or consequential damages
  • Errors caused by OCR or device hardware
  • Misuse by users or third parties

YOUR USE OF THE APP IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Third-Party Device Services

The App operates on third-party platforms and device services, including:

  • Apple iOS
  • Device camera
  • Device contact storage

We are not responsible for failures caused by third-party hardware, operating systems, or services.

App Store Notice

If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store:

  • Apple is not responsible for the App
  • Apple has no obligation to provide support
  • Apple is not liable for claims related to the App except as required by law

Termination

We may suspend or terminate use of the App if these Terms are violated.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App means acceptance of updated Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict of law rules.

Privacy Policy

Information We Access

The App may request access to certain device features in order to provide its functionality:

Camera

The App uses your device camera to:

  • Capture images of business cards
  • Scan text from business cards
  • Extract contact information for review and saving

The camera is used only when you choose to scan a card.

Contacts

The App may request permission to access your device contacts in order to:

  • Save scanned contact information to your phone’s contact list
  • Update or create contacts when you choose to do so

The App does not modify contacts without your action.

Device Storage (if applicable)

The App may use local device storage to:

  • Temporarily process scanned images
  • Store app preferences
  • Save locally generated app data (if applicable)

Information We Do NOT Collect

At this time, the App is designed as a local device application.

We do not:

  • Collect personal information on our servers
  • Store scanned contacts on our servers
  • Upload scanned business card images to our servers
  • Sell personal information
  • Share scanned contact data with third parties
  • Track your contact data for advertising purposes

All scanning and contact-saving functions occur on your device, except where your device operating system handles contact storage.

OCR and Scanned Data

The App uses scanning and text recognition technology to read information from business cards.

Scanned information may include:

  • Name
  • Company
  • Job title
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Website
  • Address
  • Other contact details visible on the scanned card

You are responsible for reviewing scanned information before saving it.

The App does not guarantee that OCR results will always be accurate.

Device Permissions

You control whether to grant permissions.

If you deny permissions such as:

  • Camera access
  • Contacts access

Some App features may not function properly. Permissions can be changed later in your device settings.

Local Data Storage

If the App stores temporary or local data, such data is stored on your device and is controlled by your device operating system.

We do not have access to data stored locally on your phone unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Third-Party Services

The App operates on third-party mobile operating systems and app distribution platforms, including:

  • Apple iOS

These third parties may collect information under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review their policies separately.

Children’s Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data Security

Because the App is designed primarily for local device use, security of your data depends in part on:

  • Your device security
  • Device passcodes
  • Operating system protections
  • Contact storage security provided by your device

No method of electronic storage is completely secure.

Data Retention

Scanned contact information that you choose to save is retained according to:

  • Your device settings
  • Your phone contacts application
  • Your actions (such as deletion)

We do not retain any user data on Company servers.

Your Choices

You may:

  • Deny permissions
  • Delete saved contacts from your device
  • Uninstall the App
  • Change permissions in device settings

International Users

If you use the App outside the country where the Company is located, your use is subject to applicable local privacy laws.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updated versions will be posted with a revised effective date. Continued use of the App after changes means acceptance of the updated policy.

Note: Users are responsible for obtaining any permissions or consents required by applicable law before storing or using personal contact information.
